Reasons to use taxicabs - Cost, Convenience, Capability
1(800)4MY-TAXI is offering a special transportation program for the Fall 2009 School Schedule in the Capistrano Unified School District and other districts throughout the County of Orange. Beginning September 9th, groups of children will be grouped in fixed route taxi vans to and from school.
How Taxi School Routing Works
Students who live in the same area are grouped with schools in the same area. School start times and end times also factor in to good routing. Minivan taxis can group up to six passengers per vehicle, resulting in shorter ride times and greater flexibility than a bus route. Good routing and lower fares depend on participation of parents and school officials in promoting the bus alternatives available in the community. The more ridership, the more efficient and less expensive a taxicab trip is..
Parents are responsible for any changes in scheduling or time changes.
Where Do I meet My Taxi ?
Students can be picked up at the curb of their home and be delivered right in front of school. An optional shared pickup location can also be requested for lower rates. After school, your driver will set up a predetermined location with you for the best pickup location.
How Am I Charged and How Much ?
Passengers will be expected to set up a prepaid account, with a month paid in advance. Certain terms and conditions will apply. One Way trips will typically cost around $5 - $9, depending on ridership and distances involved. Your prepaid account can be paid online via the major credit cards/ paypal or by mail and personal check. You will be charged less than the meter fare. Charges may be less than $5.00 each way with additional PTA or school participation.
Special Needs ?
We have experience and training in Special Needs cases. Special needs students are accepted on a case by case basis. Wheelchair accessible service is available on a very limited basis at this time. Give us a call.
Limitations ?
We prefer to transport children that are middle school or higher. Elementary children may be accepted on a case by case basis. Routing limitations may mean that a route can not be guaranteed until the start of the school semester or year. Please check Route Watch to see your route being built and cleared for start.
Carpooling or sharing the ride in a Car Pool For School
There are private party options for sharing rides in the school district, but your reliance on another, poorly insured person who may have a questionable driving record is a poor option. Compare to a fully background tested, licensed, and drug/alcohol random tested professional taxi driver and you will see a difference in the way you sleep at night.
We have measures in place, and under direct government supervision, to ensure the highest caliber of driver. You will not be receiving a regular taxi driver, but a trained professional, much like a school bus driver, with important safeguards for your student.
How are your taxis regulated safely in Orange County ?
A White and Yellow Cab Inc. is regulated by OCTAP, the Orange County Taxi Administration Program, with oversight from the OCTA.
